A photo finish. That is how the first race of the afternoon at Gulfstream Park was defined, with luck favoring Sweet Interlude—the chestnut colt who held his ground against the late charge of Supreme Honor—under the training of Nolan Ramsey.
His jockey, José Morelos, made a point of saving ground by keeping the colt on the rail, enabling him to break his maiden on the synthetic track. The chestnut ran in the silks of Daugherty Racing LLC and Ramsey & Kelly; it marked the fifth victory of the season for Nolan Ramsey.
